•These guidelines are intended to enable us to return your job to you in the shortest time possible (allowing for Production schedules and workload).

•If you are unsure, please call us beforehand and we can discuss before you start as it is much easier to do it right then (than correct it last minute)

•Any deviation from these guidelines can result in jobs taking longer than expected to print or the Final output not being what you expected.

•We do on the larger digital print runs now require a proof to be signed off to confirm you are happy with the final output.

•Please bear in mind that LASER printers are Not Colour precise and the colour can change slightly daily due to climatic changes of heat and humidity. Therefore an exact colour match is not always possible.

•Also our printers are not the same as yours, they use different inks and technologies and possibly different languages (pcl/postscript), which will again result in different final outputs.

•If possible please supply a proof or mock up, so we can compare the out put with your one, we can spot any Fonts, logos, Images that are missing.

•All images and colour spaces Must be in CMYK not RGB as our Printers are CMYK

There are a lot more colours available in RGB hence will be modified when converted to CMYK and then print as different colours on the OUTPUT.

•Please set up the small format job up as it would print e.g. An A4 booklet
Set up as 2 double-sided pages rather than 4 separate A4 pages. We can correct it but then this takes time, is chargeable and slows the job output time.

•Please incorporate a 5mm bleed. (3mm previous) for ALL bleed edge to edge prints, also helps to keep graphic images away from the edges as to allow for trimming of documents.

Resolution

•Up to A3 -300dpi (at final output size A4 output at a0 needs to be at 400dpi)
•A3-A0-200dpi (a4 x 400% = A0)
•A0 +-100dpi(400dpi x 400% = 100dpi)

•Jpeg images should be saved with Standard Baseline compression, progression or optimised baseline compression results in greater uncompression times and can take an age. If your simple jpeg print is taking an hour – this is probably why. Or send us a Tiff file instead.

Software Specific

Word: Ok for short documents / reports, Pictures and margins move, so not recommended.

Excel: Ensure Page Set up is correct for ALL tabs. View – Print layout to check

AutoCAD: Ensure Xrefs, images and plot styles (if used) are all Supplied.
We convert .DWG files to PLT files, if you wish you can do this part if you have AutoCAD.


Acrobat:(pdf) Scale to fit does not fit exactly to the page size (about 20mm smaller) It is ideal if the artwork is set at 100%. Ensure All Fonts are Embedded and the resolution of the graphics is suitable.
